Kāpiti Coast
A string of beach towns from Paekākāriki to Ōtaki, about 35 to 60 minutes' drive north of Wellington. With Transmission Gully and the expressway now open, it's an easy drive from Porirua.

What's changing in Kāpiti Coast
The plans and projects most likely to affect Kāpiti Coast.
The 24 km Ōtaki to north of Levin expressway began construction in late 2025 and is expected to be finished in 2029.
What it could mean: faster, safer trips north, which should make Ōtaki and the northern end of the district easier to live in.
Plan Change 2 (Intensification) is now operative. It lets more homes be built in existing urban areas, in response to Government housing requirements.
What it could mean: some properties may have more development potential than before. Check your property's zone with the council, or ask me.
