Waitangirua
An eastern Porirua suburb established in the 1960s, mostly as a government housing development. Many original families still live here. It sits between Cannons Creek and Whitby.

What's changing in Waitangirua
The plans and projects most likely to affect Waitangirua.
Te Rā Nui, the eastern Porirua regeneration programme led by Kāinga Ora, Ngāti Toa and the council, is renewing state housing and building new homes across Ascot Park, Waitangirua, Cannons Creek and Rānui.
What it could mean: better housing, parks and infrastructure over time, which should lift the appeal of eastern Porirua. More new homes nearby also means more choice for buyers.
Porirua's new District Plan rules are now treated as operative, except where they are under appeal. They set what can be built on each property.
What it could mean: some properties may have more development potential than before. Check your property's zone on the council's ePlan, or ask me.
